Project Managing Manufacturing Log Database
Chain & Rope Suppliers & Hoistech Ltd had folders upon folders of products sold to customers. These folders would then be passed upstairs to the receptionist. She would then create a birth certificate for some of those products. This made every product sold traceable. The problem being that there was a huge paper trail. I sought to both understanding the old way and trying to incorporate a much more user friendly, simpler and efficient method to replace the old. Firstly I had to update the mass amounts of products. Products were dynamically set up so that the receptionist could create a certificate to suit around any product by selecting selectable options. All product codes, descriptions and product categories therefore had to match across the sales database and the manufacturing log product database. This would mean that users could create a form to enter in a product, type in the serial number and the form would fill out what needs to print on the certificate. A database of standards associated with every product on the sales database was then generated. This would mean that any engineer could select their user and unique pin, select the customer, fill in the batch number associated with that product, fill in the docket number, find the product code, hit save and the form would then save on the manufacturing log database. The certificate would also be automatically generated based on the information entered. These certs can then be emailed directly after being saved or printed.
